Building a PC with My 9-Year-Old

Hey everyone, I’m planning to build a PC with my 9-year-old daughter and could use some guidance. We’re going for a MATX build with a 36L case. She’s mainly into Roblox right now, but I want to make sure she has room to grow as she gets into more demanding games.

I’m looking for advice on a motherboard, CPU, and GPU that would be good for a young gamer but still have some future-proofing.

I think a b550M-PLUS board with a 5600X and 3060 would do great, it will work flawlessly for 1080p gaming and you might even try 1440p. Def enough for Roblox

I would suggest these:
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M Mortar is a great MATX motherboard choice with solid build quality, good VRMs for overclocking, and support for PCIe 4.0. It doesn't include Wi-Fi, but adding a Wi-Fi card is easy if needed.
  • CPU: i5-12400F is an excellent mid-range CPU with 6 cores and 12 threads, offering great gaming performance for the price. It pairs well with a B560 or B660 motherboard and provides solid upgrade paths within Intel's lineup.
  • GPU: RX 6600 XT offers competitive performance at 1080p and is capable of handling most modern games smoothly.
  • PSU: A 600W PSU from a reliable brand like Seasonic or Cooler Master with an 80 Plus Bronze or higher rating would be sufficient.
  • RAM: Go with 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200 RAM, which balances performance and cost.
  • SSD: A 1TB SATA SSD, like the Samsung 870 EVO, is a great choice for both OS and game storage, offering a good mix of performance and capacity.
