Built a New PC and Facing Crashes

Hey everyone,

So, I built a new PC a few months ago. Initially, everything seemed fine, but I’ve been running into some annoying issues. While gaming or streaming, my system sometimes starts to lag and then completely crashes, sending me straight to the BIOS.

I decided to check the Windows Log > System for any clues and noticed this recurring warning/error right before the crash: "Intel(R) Ethernet Controller I226-V Network link is disconnected."

Has anyone else faced this issue or knows how to fix it? I’d appreciate any advice!

Here are my PC specs for reference:

  • Motherboard: MSI MPG Z790 Carbon Wifi
  • GPU: RTX 3080 Ti
  • CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
  • PSU: Corsair RM750x
Thanks in advance!

I've had a similar issue with the Intel Ethernet controller before. One thing that worked for me was updating the network drivers directly from Intel’s website instead of relying on Windows Update. Also, check your Ethernet cable and make sure it's securely connected; sometimes a loose cable can cause intermittent disconnections.

Definitely seems like a driver issue. Try downloading the latest drivers from Intel's site for the I226-V and see if that helps.
