Even more controversial titles like Dark Souls 2 have been recognized by the critics, with Elden Ring raising the bar further in 2022. Therefore, it came as no surprise that FromSoftware's announcement of Elden Ring Nightreign created a lot of excitement. Many were on the edge of their seats to see what was next for the studio, but in a rare turn of events, Elden Ring Nightreign is not a smash hit, at least in terms of critical reception.
