[Exclusive] Bend Studio's Live Service Game Using Unreal Engine 4

Hey everyone!

I'm back with more information, and this time, I found something about Bend Studio, the team behind Days Gone. They are currently hiring a Lead UI Programmer for the next project, and the requirements seem to confirm that the team is using Unreal Engine 4 for this game.

Days Gone also used the same engine, and Bend Studio has been working on the next game for a while. A bit surprising that the team isn't using Unreal Engine 5, but they probably started development before Unreal Engine 5 became so big. Remember that other developers have only recently begun to explore this engine, and many games were still using Unreal Engine 4 last year. Also, Bend Studio's game is a live service title, so it probably wouldn't benefit much from the visuals of Unreal Engine 5. Anyways, what do you think about the choice of UE4 over 5?

Honestly, I’m a little disappointed they aren’t pushing for UE5. With all the hype around next-gen graphics, it feels like a missed opportunity, especially for a live service game.

It’s interesting that Bend Studio is going with UE4 for this project. On one hand, it’s a solid engine they’re already familiar with, which might make development smoother, especially for a live service game that needs constant updates.

On the other hand, UE5 offers some incredible advancements in visuals and performance that could really shine in a new title. Perhaps the team started development before UE5 was fully accessible, or they weighed the benefits and felt UE4 was the safer bet. Either way, I’m excited to see what they bring to the table, even if it’s not using the latest tech.
