Hey fellow Witcher fans,
So, I just came across some exciting news that I had to share. It looks like our favorite monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, will be making an appearance in The Witcher 4! According to his voice actor, Doug Cockle, Geralt is definitely going to be part of the upcoming game. But here’s the catch—he’s not going to be the main protagonist this time around.
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has been pretty tight-lipped about the specifics of The Witcher 4, which they’re currently calling “Project Polaris.” The game is going to be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and is said to be the start of a new Witcher trilogy. From what we’ve heard so far, this new saga isn’t going to focus on Geralt, which kind of makes sense if they’re planning to introduce a new generation of Witcher stories. But still, knowing that Geralt will be involved, even if just in a supporting role, is really exciting.
Doug Cockle, who’s voiced Geralt throughout the series, dropped this info during a chat on the Fall Damage YouTube channel. He mentioned that while he doesn’t know how much of Geralt we’ll actually see, he’s definitely going to be part of the game. Cockle even joked that he might not have seen the script yet—or maybe he has, and he’s just not allowed to say!
CDPR has been hinting at Geralt’s return for a while now, with The Witcher 4’s director, Sebastian Kalemba, suggesting as much last December. He called Project Polaris an “excellent entry point” for new players but also mentioned that it would still cater to long-time fans who want to continue following Geralt’s story.
I’m honestly curious about how they’re going to handle this. Will Geralt be a mentor figure? A side character? Or will he play a significant role in the new storyline? And who do you all think will be the new main character?
I know some fans might be bummed that Geralt isn’t the focus anymore, but I’m just happy he’s not completely out of the picture. What are your thoughts?
