Helldivers 2 Embraces Physics Bugs – Fun or Frustrating?

Hi,
So, I just read that the creative director of Helldivers 2 thinks it’s a better and "sillier" world when physics bugs can kill you for something like jumping past the wrong lamppost. 😆 Apparently, realism isn’t the priority here, and honestly, I’m kinda torn about it.

On one hand, I totally get where they’re coming from. Some of the best (or at least funniest) moments in gaming come from ridiculous bugs that catch you off guard. The chaos can add to the fun when you're just laughing at how absurd it is. But on the other hand, I feel like if a game gets too random with stuff like that, it could get annoying real fast. Dying because of a glitch or weird physics interaction over and over? Yeah, that might kill the vibe.

That said, I do appreciate that they’re not taking the "everything must be super realistic" approach. Sometimes games get too caught up in trying to be ultra-accurate, and it takes away from the fun. Helldivers has always been about mayhem and co-op madness, so maybe this is just part of that charm?

I love games that don’t take themselves too seriously, so Helldivers 2 rolling with the physics bugs is pretty cool to me. That said, I hope they’re fun and not game-breaking. Bugs can add hilarious moments, but only when they don't totally disrupt the experience. A random death here and there? Sure, that’s funny. Constantly getting wiped out by glitchy physics? Not so much. The key will be how they balance it—enough chaos to make you laugh, but not enough to make you rage quit.

I’ve always loved games that throw random chaos into the mix, and if Helldivers 2’s physics bugs lead to hilarious moments with friends, I’m all for it. Bugs that kill you in ridiculous ways can create memorable gaming sessions. But if the physics bugs are too unpredictable, it could seriously mess with the flow of the game, especially if you’re trying to work as a team. It’s a risky move, but if they manage it right, this could actually be one of the game’s best features. Fingers crossed they don’t overdo it!

Honestly, I’m all for the chaos. Bugs like that add a layer of unpredictability, which makes co-op even more fun.
