Help me pick between the 7800X3D and 7950X3D

I'm currently using a 7800X3D and I'm very satisified with gaming performance. However, I also use VMware Workstation Pro for work and the CPU is struggling there.. would upgrading to 7950X3D help?

The 7950X3D doesn't excel in games due to latency between the two CCX units and the fact that only one CCX has extra cache.
 
This depends a whole lot on how many VMs you're runnign and what tasks are you performing on them. Going for the 7950X3D may help, but if you are more concerned about VM performance and are fine with losing some gaming FPS, i would say go for Intel or switch to a non-X3D CPU.

As for gaming, there is no CPU that can top the 7800x3d..
