Hello everyone!
I have been thinking about how real time tech like smart home devices, AR apps, and IoT systems could perform better with reduced latency and faster processing. Most of these still rely heavily on distant cloud servers which can introduce noticeable delays.
This is precisely the point where Edge computing becomes highly relevant, offering a new approach by bringing data processing closer to the user and reducing the reliance on distant servers for tasks that require immediate responses. By processing data locally rather than sending everything back and forth to centralized servers, devices could respond much more quickly and efficiently, delivering near real time feedback and seamless performance. This could make smart appliances, health monitoring devices, and local network applications far more reliable, capable of handling complex tasks without interruption, and overall more user friendly.
Has anyone tried setups using edge nodes or noticed improvements in latency sensitive devices thanks to local processing? I am curious whether this technology will become mainstream soon and how it might influence future hardware design in everyday tech. Any insights, experiences, or predictions would be really interesting to hear.
