Im buying the RTX 4080S is it necessary for me to have an atx 3.0 psu

Im currently going through some RTX 4080 SUPER options, but I've been reading mixed opinions on whether an ATX 3.0 PSU is necessary. My current setup has a solid ATX 2.4 PSU. Should I consider upgrading my PSU as well, or is my current PSU enough?

Nvidia clearly states that an ATX 3.0 Power Supply is not necessary. They provide a 12pin to 3x 8pin adapter with their graphics cards.

Honestly, I don't think this will be a major issue. I'm starting a new build next week with the 4090 and have a brand new 1500W PSU. It's not ATX 3.0, but it's unopened. This problem seems to be exaggerated.

There's absolutely no issue using ATX 2.0 PSUs with the new 40 Series cards. You just need the adapter that comes with the cards or some aftermarket cables for a cleaner setup.

You don't need one. Larger power supplies that support the newer GPUs with the 16-pin connector include an adapter. Besides that, all current hardware functions perfectly with existing standard power supplies.
