Palworld Isn’t Going Free-to-Play – Good or Bad Call?

Heyy!

So I just read that Palworld is not going the free-to-play route, and honestly, I’m kind of relieved. While a lot of games these days are chasing the F2P model, I feel like it’s more of a trap than a benefit for players. Sure, you get in the door for free, but then it’s just microtransaction city from there on out. For a game like Palworld, with its mix of survival and creature-catching elements, I think keeping it paid will help avoid all that predatory monetization stuff.

I’m excited to see where they take the game now that they’re not tied to making everything revolve around in-game purchases. What do you all think? Is this the right move, or are you all for free-to-play, even with microtransactions?

I'm actually relieved. When a game goes free-to-play, it’s easy to lose track of the true game experience because everything starts revolving around getting players to spend money. Games like Fortnite and Genshin Impact make a ton of cash, but they also frustrate players with grindy systems. If Palworld stays paid, it could mean fewer distractions and better focus on what really matters: gameplay. That’s what I’m personally looking for. We need more titles like this, where the goal is to enjoy the game itself, not just spend money on it!

Palworld staying paid could save it from being one of those games that dies due to predatory monetization. I’d rather pay once and get the whole experience without getting nickel-and-dimed. Plus, the survival and creature-capturing mechanics seem like they’d be too complex to be handled well with a F2P model.
