Hi!
Just read that Outlast developer Red Barrels got hit by a cyber attack, and their data was stolen. Kinda scary, right? It seems like this is happening more and more often in the gaming industry. Not only does this potentially mess up their current projects, but who knows what sensitive info might’ve been leaked?
It makes me wonder if game developers need to step up their cybersecurity efforts. It’s one thing when a big company like CD Projekt Red gets hit, but when indie teams like Red Barrels are targeted, it feels even worse. What do you guys think—is this just the new normal? Are devs underestimating how vulnerable they are to these kinds of attacks?
And on another note, I hope this doesn’t delay any upcoming Outlast content... I’ve been waiting for more horror from them!
