Hey everyone!

Just read through Square Enix's latest financial report, and it seems like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16 didn’t hit the sales numbers they were hoping for. It’s surprising, right? With all the hype around both games, you’d think they’d crush it. Square Enix even admitted they didn’t manage their portfolio well and possibly cannibalized their own sales.

As a fan, I’m kinda bummed. What do you all think went wrong? Too much competition in their own catalog, or something else?

Square Enix is in a tough spot. While both FF7 Rebirth and FF16 are amazing games, I think the issue is a mix of poor timing and high expectations. There’s so much competition in the RPG space right now, and dropping two huge games so close to each other was risky. Players only have so much time and money, right? It’s possible that FF7 overshadowed FF16, even though they cater to different crowds. I wonder if a staggered release would’ve helped.

Too many big releases in such a short time definitely impacted sales. I love Square, but they need better timing.
