For context, Marathon is priced at $40, making it one of the more expensive live-service games in a market dominated by free-to-play titles. Because of this price point and Bungie's dwindling reputation in relation to Destiny 2 recently, many expected the game to underperform at launch. However, Marathon's current position on the Steam best-sellers list suggests the game will do just fine.
