[Discussion] Sony Reportedly Offered Crimson Desert A Timed-Exclusivity Deal Which Was Rejected

South Korean game developer Pearl Abyss has reportedly decided not to accept an exclusivity deal from Sony for their upcoming game, Crimson Desert. This deal would have stopped the game from being released on Xbox for a certain period.

Sad to see how desperate Sony is. Their flagship teams aren't doing much besides Insomniac, so Sony has no option but to rely on third-party deals. Hoping to see more bite-sized games like Astro from Sony now since Astro Bot was incredible.
 
Rejecting Sony's offer was a smart business decision. Crimson Desert has the potential to be huge, and limiting it to one platform might have held it back.
 
Sony must have really wanted Crimson Desert to be their next big hit, but I respect Pearl Abyss for choosing to self-publish. It's a bold move that could pay off big.
 
I think Pearl Abyss made the right choice by rejecting the exclusivity deal. Releasing on multiple platforms will definitely give Crimson Desert a larger audience.
