Hi everyone,
I’m building a small home lab for testing and development, and I’ve run into a few networking issues that are becoming difficult to sort out. I recently added a rackmount server that runs several virtual machines, and I connected everything using a 10 GbE switch. However, when I plug in my ethernet adapter, the performance is not what I expected. The bandwidth feels limited and the latency is higher than it should be for a local environment.
Here is my setup:
What I have already tried:
I suspect there might be a configuration issue on the switch or something related to adapter negotiation. It could even be a driver bug. Has anyone here dealt with similar issues? Which settings or diagnostics should I check next? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Here is my setup:
- Rackmount server with dual 10 Gb NICs
- Desktop workstation running Linux
- High quality CAT 6A cables
- Managed 10 Gb ethernet switch
What I have already tried:
- Updating NIC drivers and firmware
- Disabling offloading and other advanced features on the adapter
- Changing cables and ports
