Issues with Network Setup on My Home Lab — Help Needed

Hi everyone,

I’m building a small home lab for testing and development, and I’ve run into a few networking issues that are getting pretty frustrating. I recently added a rackmount server that runs a few VMs, and I connected everything using a 10 GbE switch. However, when I plug in my ethernet adapter, the performance isn’t what I expected — the bandwidth seems capped, and latency is higher than I thought for a local setup.

Here’s my setup:
  • Rackmount server with dual 10 Gb NICs
  • Desktop workstation (Linux)
  • High-quality CAT 6A cables
  • Managed 10 Gb ethernet switch
What I’ve already tried:
  1. Updating NIC drivers / firmware
  2. Disabling offloading and other advanced features on the adapter
  3. Changing cables and ports
I’m suspecting either a configuration issue on the switch, or perhaps something wrong with my adapter negotiation. Could also be a bug in the driver. Has anyone here tackled similar problems? What settings or diagnostics should I run next? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance 😊
